Missional Opportunities

Our mission efforts are led by our Mission Committee which coordinates the variety of mission efforts our church is engaged in. The Church's philosophy is to involve as many men, women, boys and girls in being the presence of Christ in our community and world. In addition to the numbers of people who volunteer at the John 3:16 Center, Union Mission, Baptist Men Disaster Relief efforts our church has some intentional efforts at specific times throughout the year.

El Salvador Mission Trip

Since 2005 each year our church has sent a team to the Central American country of El Salvador. Loaded with supplies which include medical and personal hygiene items as well as funds for food bags, the team travels on behalf of the church wide effort to aid the local churches in El Salvador as they seek to minister to the spiritual, physical, and mental needs of the people. Walking alongside the people of El Salvador and the Methodist church we've built houses, visited in the homes of hundreds of local citizens. Our teams have spent time getting to know and pray for the people as we offered a bag of food to support them and demonstrate the love of God from their U.S. neighbors. Additionally we've been able to support the Free Medical Clinic of El Salvador with furniture, critical medications, supplies and equipment as well as offer financial support with their utilities on an ongoing basis. Hundreds of persons are helped each month by the medical clinic and Littleton Baptist Church is proud to help them sustain this valuable and lifesaving ministry.

FREE Kid's Carnival

Each year in the spring the church offers a one day Free Kid's Carnival for the children of the greater Littleton area. Since 2006, Littleton Baptist Church, aided with the support of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of NC, has offered a fun day for our children most of which could not participate if it were a paid event. The past several years more than 400 adults and children have enjoyed free hot dogs, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and more. This annual event includes special activities like the inflatable bounce house, slide, and obstacle course, plus games, music, crafts, and balloons. Each child receives a free "goodie bag" which includes snacks, bottled water, toothpaste, toothbrush, pencils, pads, reading books and a Christian book on their age level. A health screening is offered for all participants.

Lacts Food Pantry

Lacts Food Pantry is a community effort of some area churches to provide food relief to local citizens at or below the poverty level to assist them and demonstrate the love of Christ. A food bag is given monthly to those who apply. The distribution takes place the fourth Friday of each month.

Fellowship Fund For Local Benevolence

Eight times a year our church celebrates the Lord’s Supper. At the conclusion of these events an offering is taken for our Fellowship Fund which is used to enable the church to offer assistance to those in the community with special crisis needs that may arise. The generosity of our people enables many physical and spiritual needs through these mission efforts.

Hello Ministry - "Helping Elderly Live Life Optimistically"

Our Hello Ministry is a great way for our members to maintain connections, and demonstrate Christ-like concern for our elderly. This outreach ministry encourages LBC members to keep in touch with our shut-ins and those in nursing facilities by sending cards, making phone calls, and making personal visits. After a "Hello" contact is made the individual is asked to report the contact by completing the "H.E.L.L.O. Ministry Form" in that Sunday's bulletin. This way the church is informed of their prayer requests or ministry need. Be sure to say HELLO to someone this week.

Building Projects and Relief

As opportunities arise the church has been responsive to supporting projects of support to persons in need. In addition to disaster relief and recovery efforts the church has offered assistance for local residents. Recently, our church obtained a used mobile home, relocated it to the sight of a family in need, and did the much needed upgrades to provide them with an affordable and comfortable place to live. The church remains open to caring for our local families as we tangibly demonstrate Christ's desire to assist the "least of these his children".

Special Mission Offerings and Mission Support

We support many local and global causes for mission efforts. We give regularly and generously to the Global Missions Offering for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, and the Cullom Baptist Association. Additionally we provide ongoing support to the John 3:16 Center of Littleton, and the Union Mission and Room At The Inn of Roanoke Rapids.
